Richard Wherley

I grew up on a dairy farm in Abingdon Illinois and was the youngest of six children. I always had a passion for education and thought I could make a difference in the lives of young people by helping them realize their dreams. I got my first degree at ISU in Agricultural Education and taught course in that at Highland High School in southern Illinois. While there, I took additional coursework at SIUE in administration and took my first administrative position at Waterloo High School in Illinois. Trying to move closer to home, I was offered and accepted the principalship at Eureka High School in 1995. After 33 years in eudcation, I retired in 2018.

Even though my career as a high school administrator has come to an end , I am not ready to retire at such a young age so I took on the challenge of facilitating the Woodford County CEO program to help make it a success and develop new entreprenuers in our local communities.
